My friend stayed from 2 June for respite and he was happy there. Steve, the manager was great. Thanks for your care and love for the residents.

Highly recommend this care home the loving caring warm atmosphere that is given off is very reassuring they show great hospitality and always let you know of any changes or concerns regarding your family and make the house feel a home. They go above and beyond to reach the individual needs your family might have my friends nan had lots of particular ways such as getting up late certain things she would like to eat and times she would like to go in the garden and they met all her needs. It is quiet a smaller home so because of the numbers I feel they get more time and one to one care with the staff. 😁

We had a friend in there and though I must say, the staff were very friendly and helpful and always ready with a hot drink when visitors walked in, but his clothes were always going missing and he had often got other people's clothes on when we visited. He was never in his room, but just sitting in the lounge area, with the TV on, usually quite loud, so you couldn't talk properly. Apparently that is all they did, just sat in front of the TV all day. He was a lot worse when he came out than he was when he went in. It drove him mad. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

My grandfather went in very ill under NHS admission. All I could ask for is that the staff gave the care that he deserved and they did so much more. Caring of myself and relatives as we visited and always open to a chat about progress and in contact with doctors and nurses. Special mention to the two Emma's.

As one of the owners of Beechwood gardens, I do not recognise JW who posted 6 months ago or how often she visited. We are a small home and occasionally residents' clothes get mixed up but this happens in the vast majority of homes. The idea of people living in a care home is to be part of a community rather than the isolation many older people suffer, but if a resident wished to be in there room it would always be respected and it would be on their care plan. "Just sitting in the lounge" is the norm in a home as our residents are mostly very elderly or disabled. They usually require staff assistance for most functions, including walking, toiletting, feeding etc. The criticism of sitting in front of a TV all day is not strictly true, but the TV being loud probably is as most of our residents can be quite hard of hearing. All anyone would have needed to do would have been to ask to use our quiet lounge or their own room. Presumably this was never done. There is quite a lot goes on in the home, mostly when visitors are not there, as we feel that staff led activities are best done when visits will not be interrupted. Sometimes visitors are present when our professional entertainment is happening but we do try to engage with residents on an individual basis, as residents living with dementia struggle with team activities. I do not think that the author understands dementia based on her comments. The statement that "he was a lot worse when he came out and "it drove him mad" are not realistic. I can only presume that the supposed resident was either only short-term or unsuitable for the home, which happens sometimes. It may even be that this review was posted by an aggrieved ex member of staff, although we have quite a loyal, well regarded staff team, one which is much appreciated by the owners. I hope the above may answer some people's anxiety about Beechwood gardens.
