We had great service from Mike. Looking for waterproof walking jackets (it seemed a minefield looking online - so many brands, types and budgets) we decided to seek some local advice. After 43 years, Mike certainly knows his stuff: sharing knowledge which helped us make our selection. Very likeable, not pushy and very polite. Great store with a great selection. Will definitely be our first choice in future. 5 stars without question!

I recently visited the Base Camp shop. Mike the owner has a vast knowledge of all of the varying brands and took the time to make sure that I purchased the products that fitted me the best. This also involved ordering in an item, but this came next day. I can’t fault the service or range of stock at all. The shop may look small from outside , but what you get inside is a personal service and a great range of products. Very highly recommended.

I bought a pair of walking boots from here for a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro and they’re the best pair of boots I’ve ever had, comfortable and hard wearing. Mike the owner has a vast amount experience and is very knowledgeable about his products. Would highly recommend.

Came in for a Paramo jacket and was very impressed with Mike's knowledge and customer service. Advised different options that may work and ordered different ones for me to try. He even held my baby so I could try on the jackets properly! Gave invaluable advice on other outdoor kit as well. So happy to found this place, and hope to continue to use as my 'go to' outdoor store.

Better known as Base Camp, this gem of a shop is hidden away on Lower Hillgate in Stockport. I was after a new coat and when I saw Paramo in the window display I knew I had to pop in. The owner Mike, could not have been more helpful. I told him I needed a new Paramo jacket or coat as my other Paramo had been commandeered by my daughter for her Canada trip. I settled on the Halcron as it would work well with my hiking walks and also go well over a blazer in the wet and cold in later months. Mike even went out of his way to give me a massive discount and beat the price I would have had to pay for the Halcron in Sheffield at another shop I use. This was my first time at this shop in Stockport but it won't be the last. Absolutely brilliant customer service and quality hiking clothes. I highly recommend this shop for anyone looking for quality hiking gear. Parking is available opposite the shop with it costing about 90 pence for an hour pay and display and the 192 bus route and Stockport train station are also near by. What a gem of a shop.
