i’ve been coming to city barbers for years. i was happy with my hair other than wanting a skin fade which i always have. the girl seemed in a crazy rush even though it was only 3pm and there was nobody waiting, chopping at my hair, did a half baked job of the fade and chopped random portions of my hair on top which has left certain sections extremely thin as opposed to others which are much thicker. raked through the back of my head with the razor, never felt my hair being pulled out of my head at a barbers, and she even joked about how she was ‘ripping my hair out of my scalp’… didn’t find it funny. finally she dumped a load of powder on at the end which severely damages my hair, and upon realising it was much too thick for that much powder, she sprayed a load of water on top to wash it out and left it clumpy and all over the place. never been treated so badly, never felt so poorly treated at a barbers and it cost me £17. disgraceful. my hair is not looking good right now, such a shame. hopefully it grows back properly

this was my first visit to the shop and found it friendly and comfortable.A young lady named Val cut my hair and I was extremely pleased with the cut she gave me, and with her warm friendly manner.I shall be returning as Ive been looking for a decent barber shop for ages and luckily was told about it from a friend.Im sure the other barbers there would equally give me a good cut but for now I will be sticking with Val. thanks again for the great service.

I never go to the barbers, normally I can sort  myself out. On this occasion I'd grown myself a magnificent beard, good years worth with 4 months Atleast without doing much to it at all. I needed some help to to help shape and tidy up my fair size beard. After months looking for a barber who could help me achieve this I came across city barber and had a recommendation too. So I call and explain what I need I was told to pop down n they can help. I show up early on Friday, just after 9am.. the shop was still closed but must have opened 9.30 ish. No probs.. I walked in the shop to find an older woman cutting a mans hair. I was acknowledged and told to sit. Friendly enough... I told the lady I wanted a beard trim, she said it was fine and get me in a chair. I wasn't sure she would be able to help me several time I said to myself to walk out the shop however I concluded it was not fair to judge a book by its cover and thought she is a professional clearly she has a skill set hence shes opened the shop and getting customers in the seat! She brushed my beard a bit then said to tilt me head back as she got to working with the clippers... it didn't feel like she had much of a system or technique, after about 10 awkward minutes of clipping she sits me up and said I've taken it down a bit is this okay... I was shocked to see she just hacked away a good 4/5 months of sold beard growth. I was shocked. She the half heartedly brushed the hair off my and that it I was done. I paid the lady £5 to destroy my beard. I didnt want to embrace the lady or cause a seen in the shop. I was angry but more just upset. Genuinely I walked out the shop covered in hair, hair from the previous customer and my own hacked to shreds beard. I got in my car and wanted to cry my beard lost all is bulk and was still uneven and just horrible 😢 I regret ever putting my trust into someone else and giving her a chance. I wish she just told me it was not her skill set and her colleagues would be better suited for the job. I'm really upset I had to lose 70% of my beard. It takes time and dedication to grow it out big and healthy for it to he hacked at. If you own this shop, this is not a personal attack but the lady working last Friday should not be allowed to work on clients beards. I'm sure she is lovely enough and can do other things but simply disrespectful to be practicing or just blagging it for the sake of getting customers paid and out the door. I will never visit this place again and wish I hadn't even know of it at all. Its left a bad taste and now I dont think I can go to a barber shop and trust anyone like that again. I feel really down and miss my big beard soo much its strange. She will never under my pain. 😢
