Walking the Way – Living the life of Jesus today

At Congleton URC we believe that God through Jesus demonstrates a love for all and reached out to everyone, whoever they are and we try to do the same.

Here are some of the things we are doing:

We have a team of welcomers, who do just that… welcome everyone as they arrive and pay particular attention to any newcomers, helping them familiarise themselves with the church and what happens.

We run a number of weekly events/clubs aimed at helping different individuals and groups, such as Parents, grandparents or carers and their young children, those who are elderly, lonely and /or in need, and those suffering loss and bereavement. These include Mums and Tots every Wednesday 10.00 am  –  11.30 am during term time, . The Dove Buddies group supported by the Dove Service provides support for those suffering bereavement meets alternate weeks on a Wednesday Morning from 10.00am and a Coffee morning on the other alternate Wednesday mornings. Further information on these and other groups can be found elsewhere on the ‘What happens” page. The Youth Drop-in welcomes young people each Saturday evening during term time.

Our buildings are registered for same sex and different sex marriage so we are able to welcome enquiries from any couple who is legally entitled to be married in this country.

Access

There is  a ramp to the front of the building and level access to the lower floor.

A number of pews throughout the body of the church have been recessed to enable people with mobility aids and buggy’s to sit where they wish with family or friends. (And new cushions provide more comfort!

A wheelchair and walker are available for use in case of need.

There are all access toilets on each floor

Access between the floors is not yet ideal but something we hope to tackle in the near future when the funds become available.

Congleton United Reformed Church is committed to the highest level of safeguarding in all aspects of the life of the church. For more information go to the Safeguarding page or look at the posters around the church.

Our vision

Sharing the Gospel – exploring faith – reaching out in service

In John 15 Christ gives us the picture of a vine as a model of what His church should be. Christ Himself is the Vine and the members of the church family are the branches, reaching out into the world to enfold others, to spread the love of Christ throughout the world.

Our Growing

We see our Christian life as a faith journey of exploration experience and expression. Walking the Way with Jesus very much as Jesus’ disciples journeyed with him. It is a learning process where we grow closer to God and are transformed by the Holy Spirit into the people God wants us to be.

The Kingdom of God

We allow our understanding of God to rule and reign in our lives through the grace and love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. This involves sharing the love of Jesus to all within the church and to all we meet in the community and world around us.

The Church is fantastic, it's got a really traditional feel and everyone there is really kind and welcoming. They've got a two large rooms down stairs, one with a kitchen attached and accessible toilets. They even served proper coffee after the Sunday service!
