Devon Self Catering Family Holidays

Devon caravan and holiday parks are probably the most popular type of self catering accommodation in Devon and they are becoming increasingly so. The reason for their popularity is because they offer good value for money, yes they are cheap, for example a static caravan that can accommodate a family of six could cost as little as £199 per week in the low season, compare this to bed and breakfast which would typically cost a minimum of £20 to £30 per person per night and you can see the attraction of staying in a caravan at one of the many top quality sites.
The caravan sites are situated all over Devon, mostly on the coast by the seaside and they have various sports and entertainment facilities, along with shops, cafes and restaurants, this all adds to the attraction of a caravan holiday as quite often you have everything you need on site.

They are also ideal for a family holiday as usually dogs are welcome and children are well catered for, with most parks having children’sdevon caravan park shaldon play areas and swimming pools along with sports facilities such as tennis courts and five a side football pitches. In addition there are usually children’s clubs with organised events and entertainment.

Devon has a lot to offer the holidaymaker, a relaxing seaside holiday beside one of the many award winning sandy beaches, sea and river fishing or a more active holiday exploring the moors, cycling, sailing or walking the coastal path, there is always plenty to do and see.

Places not usually on the tourist map, but definitely worth a visit worth are Plymouth, head for the Barbican area where you will find lots of bars, restaurants and famous fish and chip shops among the cobbled streets, along with the famous Plymouth gin distillery and antique and art shops. Exeter also has a lot to offer including the famous cathedral, set in a square surrounded by cafes and restaurants, there is also the canal side cafes and shops where you can hire a bicycle or even a canoe and take a trip down the Exeter canal. The English Riviera towns, of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay are all worth a visit, Brixham famous for its fishing, Paignton for its pier and Torquay for its magnificent seafront.

So you can see why caravan park holidays are so popular for a cheap family summer holiday as well as a short bank holiday break.
