We care just as much as you do

We believe in people, not patients.  We provide everything our residents need in the widest sense; considerate care, a fulfilling life and support for their friends and families.  We build relationships with every resident – finding out about their lives, their interests, their likes and dislikes so that we can help them live their lives the way they choose to.

Every time I visit half the staff are stood around laughing and gossiping rather than doing their job, leaving the couple of poor staff who do care about the residents rushed off their feet. Have to knock twice for them to answer the door, despite being stood the other side of it chatting. Makes you wonder how much care and attention the residents are really getting. Edit in response to your reply: Thank you for taking the time to write such a long reply. I am sorry to see you have taken my review to heart, but I feel the need to reiterate my experience. This review has turned into a convenient place for you to publicize how well you are using PPE and abiding by COVID regulations. As admiring as this is, and I truly applaud your effort, it seems you have missed my point. My main qualm is not having to wait to be seen, this is a small inconvenience - but it has been my experience nonetheless, and is usually seen as unprofessional and rude in most workplaces. The issue I have seen whilst being at "the other side of the door” on multiple occasions, is that a number of your staff will stand openly gossiping amongst themselves. This lasts for a considerable amount of time and consists of nothing relevant to the job, whilst a few others run around, breathless and sweating, taking the rest of the workload - yet they still take the time to acknowledge visitors. It portrays a sense of unfairness in the staff, which is upsetting to me, as I like many can resonate with this situation. I am merely stating what I have noticed personally, which is an honest insight and I am in no way undermining the effort of the few, or your efforts to COVID regulations. It is disappointing to read that you have chosen to deflect my concerns rather than use the feedback to improve, as this is the purpose of Google Reviews after all. You have shown you are not willing to accept complaints and would rather misconstrue my words than hear suggestions on what you may need to improve. Unfortunately, my previous perception of unprofessionalism has been affirmed.

I'm quite sure that reviews from the home manager and managing director are not appropriate.

A warm, friendly welcome to both residents and visitors. Extremely helpful and caring staff who seek to provide the best possible service. Nothing is too much trouble. It is a very homely place where residents and visitors are treated like a family. Particular attention to small details is given such as favourite food and special needs. Visitors are immediately asked if they would like a drink on arrival and homemade cakes are always offered to everyone. Any problems are soon addressed and the management team are always ready to support and communicate with family and carers as appropriate, respecting confidentiality

My Father in law went into the Home straight from hospital on Christmas Eve . He ‘d had major surgery on his stomach and at 98 was taking a long time to recover, resulting in two months in hospital. He could no longer walk, was double incontinent and very confused. We thought he was suffering from dementia at that stage, a thought at that stage we had lost him. We had heard that Fulford Nursing Home was very homely and caring and were very pleased when they found him a cosy room. Over the last six months they have provided for all his needs, built his confidence and increased his weight. He is now enjoying life again and has become his charming self. Thank you Fulford Nursing Home for taking such great care of him and all your other residents. You have also been ahead of the game during this awful virus, closing the doors to outsiders before government advise, taking lots of extra precautions and protecting our loved ones.
