Social Hall

Pending the Government lifting all Covid-19 social distancing restrictions, Fulford Social Hall is not available to hire for single events/parties and is only available for regular bookings for those activities permitted within the Government Roadmap.

Fulford Social Hall is a community venue run by Fulford Parish Council. It aims to provide good quality facilities for local groups and individuals to use for meetings, activities, classes, social events and parties. It is also available to hirers from other parts of York.

Originally built in 1865 as an extension to the village school, it was sold to a local builder for £250 in 1930 when the first St Oswaldâs primary school was built, and then rented out as a printing works. During World War II it was used as an ambulance station and first aid centre.

After the war it was purchased by the Parish Council for £800 to be used as a community facility. It housed the Fulford Library until the new St. Oswaldâs School was built in 2006.

At this time, following a consultation, parishioners decided to retain the Social Hall as a community asset and since then it has undergone a programme of refurbishment.
