B+E Accreditation Courses (In Conjunction With Skills For Logistics)

Our B+E Training Courses are available now and anyone attending and meeting the standards required will be issued with an official B+E Certificate.

Our Courses are approved and backed by Skills For Logistics (An approved Accreditation Governing Body Authorised by The DVSA)

Get booked in and get your accreditation.

16/12/21

B+E Towing Rules – 16/12/21

The legislation has now been passed and the changes have been brought into force today, 16 December.

What this means for car drivers towing a trailer

Drivers who passed their car driving test from 1 January 1997 will be allowed to tow trailers up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) without passing an additional car and trailer test.

DVSA stopped doing car and trailer tests from 20 September.

You can find out more information about the new rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car on GOV.UK

Changes to driving licences

DVLA will update affected driving licence records to reflect the changes.

The car and trailer category (B+E) will be added to the driving licence when a new photocard driving licence is issued.

Make sure you tow safely

Although the law on who can tow a trailer has changed, your responsibilities have not. So whatever you’re towing, make it SAFE:

Service – has it been serviced recently?

Air in tyres – check pressure, tread depth and condition.

Fit the breakaway cable or safety chain and check electrical connections.

Examine lights, mirrors, load and weight limit, and do the jockey wheel test.

All car drivers wishing to tow a trailer for leisure or business will be encouraged to undertake voluntary training through an accreditation scheme which we are developing with help from the trailer industry and training providers.

The scheme is planned to be launched early next year and will focus on a core module for all drivers, with sector specific modules for different towing activities.

You can find more information about towing safely on GOV.UK.

Accreditation scheme

The government is working closely with the towing community, including trainers, business users and groups representing those who tow for leisure, agriculture or other purposes to develop a voluntary accreditation scheme.

The scheme will be open to drivers who want to use their car to tow:

They could use the accreditation to show or evidence they are able to tow safely.

As well as making sure all drivers who tow a trailer have the skills, knowledge and competencies they need to tow safely, this also helps ensure an employer’s corporate responsibilities to make sure safe working practices are being met.

For those who tow for leisure purposes, it will help make sure they can tow legally and can get the most from their chosen towing activity, safely.

DVSA will set the standards for the scheme and will be part of any future governance to support the accrediting body who would be responsible for the quality of the scheme.

Please give us a call on 07990 761177 to book your trailer accreditation course.

Trailer Training from 20 Sept onwards

Due to the massive truck driver shortage in the UK, the government have decided to stop the need for the B+E Driving Test. This will free up vocational examiners and allow more test slots to be used for truck driving tests.

From 20th Sept 2021 it will not be possible to take the B+E Car and trailer test.

The Law is due to change in the autumn and the BE Category will be added to all car drivers licences. There is no need to contact the DVLA as the extra entitlement will be added automatically whenever you update / renew your licence.

You must however wait for the Law to change before towing a trailer with your vehicle and at present the rules regarding towing do not change.

As a company we are going to continue to offer Trailer Training and familiarisation with trailer courses. These will only run from our training centre in Wetherby though.

Certification can be provided and we hope that employers will recognise the need to allow their staff to be trained with a vehicle and trailer on things like reversing and uncoupling as well as road rules.

We also hope that caravaners / horsebox trailer owners etc will also realise that they need some help before embarking on their first journey with a trailer in tow.

Courses will be offered on a four hour basis and we will also be able to accomodate two people on each training session.

Please see below for our scheduled courses and their prices for one or two people.

For any customers who currently have a B+E Test course booked with us please be patient, we will be refunding everyone in due course but we must wait for test fees to be refunded from the DVSA before we can action any refunds.

DVSA Announcement Fri 10 Sept

As of 4.30pm today the DVSA via Grant Schapps told us that all B+E Tests are being cancelled and drivers will be be able to tow a trailer without any training or assistance from 20 Sept 2021.

Anyone with a course booked with us will receive a refund. This should be actioned within 14 days of your course date as long as we receive the refund from the DVSA for your test fee within that time.

For courses booked in on Mon/ Tue next week 13th and 14th Sept we will be refunding your course fees within 14 days. However the DVSA are presently refusing to refund anyone’s test fee for these dates. Should this change we will refund you this too but you are welcome to challenge this decision with the DVSA directly.

Overall from all the team at go! driving we are extremely sad that this has happened and we see it as a massive backward step. Courses / Tests could have privatised like HGV MOT Tests were a few years back. Only time will tell what impact this decision has on the safety of our roads.

As a company we will be moving into LGV Training with C+E and C1 testing and training in the near future so if anyone wants to re invest in that training just let us know.

Goodbye for now

25 April 2021

Our courses are back up and running and it is very very busy.   All our available courses are shown below – we have no others, please bear this in mind before you call us to enquire, we can only sell you what is already scheduled on the “available courses” page.   Thank you

24 Feb 2021

We have now contacted just about everyone and got them re-booked for their Trailer Test Courses.   As a result we have made a very limited number of courses available on the online booking system.    Everything we have available is shown.

We will be adding more courses every day as more DVSA Tests are made available for to us to book, but again this will be very limited numbers for the next couple of weeks.

22 Feb 2021

The Government have provisionally indicated that driving tests will recommence on 12th April.

However we are still waiting for an official statement from the DVSA to confirm this.

As soon as we get this we can start re booking everyone in who has already booked with us.  Please be re-assured that all existing bookings will take priority and we have suspended all our online booking availability for now until we get everyone booked back in.

We will be in touch asap so please be patient with us.

Thank you – Chris Allen (Owner)

15 Feb 2021

New member of the team

I would like to welcome Samantha to go! driving. Samantha will be covering most of our B+E Car and Trailer courses in Wetherby and York as well as helping me by answering a few calls and emails and looking after the Facebook page ! We will also be able to expand the types of courses we offer in the future now that she is part of the team.

I am delighted that Samantha has agreed to join us, she was previously running her own very successful Trailer Training School and in addition she has over 15 years experience as a HGV Class 1 driver, so her skills will be a huge asset to us.

Welcome Samantha !!

6 Feb 2021

We are still waiting for information from the DVSA / Government as to when we can resume our courses.   Our website now shows courses available from 8 March, this is still a very provisional re start date however.

If you decide to book one of the courses we have listed and that date gets postponed we will book you back in for a date as soon as we open back up.

15 Jan 2021

Vacancy

Following a retirement we need a B+E Instructor who can cover Yeading (Heathrow), Newbury (Greenham) and Guildford Test Centres if possible. The main need is Heathrow as we have a large list of customers who have booked with us and who need to send even more candidates in the near future.

This role would be available as Part Time (3 days a week usually) so you can fulfill this role whilst still running your own car driving school or other job in most cases.

We will supply a Landrover Freelander and an Ifor Williams trailer and we will pay you per course that you fulfill.

This is NOT a franchise position.

Please contact Chris Allen on 07990761177 or email [email protected] for more details.

13 Jan 2021

We are receiving lots of enquiries about our courses despite being in a national lockdown.

The situation is not clear as to when we will be able to return to work. However we have now made available some of our courses after 15 Feb. This is the date the government has set to review to the current restrictions.
We have held back many courses after the 15th Feb in order to reschedule our existing customers who had courses booked.

All the courses we do have available are listed below in our online booking system.

If you book a course with us for after 15th Feb hopefully it will go ahead as planned, however should we still be under government restrictions we will simply move this date on to the next available date.

4 Jan 2021

The government has announced another lockdown therefore all training and tests are cancelled until further notice.

We will be contacting everyone that is booked in to confirm the above and all we can do is wait for further announcements as to when this latest lockdown will end. As soon as we know more we will be able to offer new training dates.

We have cancelled all our online courses up until the end of Jan for now, we are unable to say when we will able start again at present.

The Government has just announced new guidelines regarding Tiers and this affects some of the areas we cover :-

If you live in Northampton / Peterborough / London / Nottingham or the North East – you will not be able to attend your training or trailer test.  For anyone affected we will be booking you back in as soon as possible, but without knowing when Tier 4 restrictions will end its impossible to say when this will be.

For anyone who lives in Yorkshire (South / North or West) Your bookings are unaffected as this remains Tier 3.  This means all courses and tests will go ahead as long as this is where you are resident.   Any courses available in Yorkshire are still available to book to, again as long as this is where you live and you are not travelling in from a Tier 4 location.

If you do live in Tier 4 and book a course it will be cancelled by the DVSA once they check your address on your licence (which happens as soon as we attempt to register you).

Further…we have managed to secure more test slots in Sheffield in the next 2 weeks. If you live in Yorkshire these are available to book online now.

If you have any questions please give me a call.

Here we go again …

Following the governments Tier 4 announcements yesterday I’m afraid this affects some of our locations yet again.  All courses in London are cancelled for now, we will contact anyone booked in to move them to a new date in the new year asap.

In addition many of our courses in Northampton will be affected. Our training is done in Northampton, which is Tier 2…however one of the two test centres we use is Peterborough and this has been placed in Tier 4. Again we will contact all those concerned in the coming days.  There is another complication though in that anyone living in a Tier 4 location cannot travel into a lower Tier to take their test. So we will need to check everyone’s home address too to ensure their test will still go ahead at the other test centre we can use.  Like everyone else we will be glad when this is all over ?

We have the green light to start courses again next week and we have already filled a lot of our available spaces in December.  If you are looking to complete your trailer test soon be quick as everything is selling fast.

Please note the tier system does NOT affect driving tests.

New location added – Darlington / North East

We have now added a new location with the help of our latest new instructor Gary Collins. Gary brings lots of experience to the team as a former driving examiner who now works as a driver trainer in cars and the car and trailer courses.

If you want to book a course with someone who knows exactly what is needed to pass the B+E Test see all Gary’s available dates below.

We may have been ordered to shut for 4 weeks but we will be back on 3rd December !

All our available courses after this date are shown below and these are free to be booked in anticipation of the lockdown ending.

The DVSA have just announced that ALL driving tests are cancelled from 5th Nov to 2 Dec.  We will be contacting everyone who has a course booked within those dates to re book from Mon 7th Dec onwards.

Locations

Between now and the New Year we are restricted as to the locations we are permitted to cover. How much this will change and when remains unknown.

The locations we can currently offer courses in  are :

Keighley, Wetherby, Sheffield, Nottingham, Northampton and Darlington.

All the Courses / Tests we have available between now and the New Year are shown below.  Please click on “courses available” to see the full list.

We will not be given any extra dates.
Once the dates below are booked that’s it !

More courses available in Keighley in October – .Please see courses available below.

All our Sept courses are full. It’s very unlikely we will be adding any more dates this month so please choose our Oct dates as they will be booked before you know it !

26 August

A lot of people are debating the 1 or 2 day course question.

We tend to say those with lots of towing experience are normally ok for the one day course as this helps to brush up skills they already have. If you don’t have lots of experience please book a two day course.

Our retest fee is usually £325 (incl test fee and VAT). But more importantly the wait for a retest can be as much as 6 weeks at present.

Please give yourself the best possible chance of passing first time !!!!

17 August

All our available courses are shown below – please hit the button for “all our Towing Courses” to see more than what is shown on this page.  Test allocations across the UK are severley restricted and as a result some areas we usually cover have zero availability.  This is simply because we cannot book a test in that location at present.

Demand is higher than we ever seen it before.   Please don’t hang on or delay believing there will be a cancellation somewhere, that is just not going to happen.  If there is a course in your area then grab it while you can !

3 August

Most test centres are re open now.

We are busier than we have ever been so please be aware that we are taking bookings for 24 August onwards in most areas.  All courses that are available are shown below in the online booking section.
To see courses in your location please search under that area as the page below only shows a small selection available in the next few days. – Thank you

9th July

Some test centres are re opening with tests available in 1 week batches.   We are currently booked up until 7th August.

We are taking provisional bookings from 10 August so that we can guarantee getting dates after that.

Any available dates availble before then are also shown below in the online course bookings.

8th July 2020

Given the overwhelming success of our pre booking programme we have extended this now for dates after 10/8/20. Please do not ask us for a date before this as we simply cannot get any tests before then.

Nottingham, Sheffield and London Test Centres remain closed for Health and Safety Reasons and so we can’t book anyone into these locations until after 10/8/20 at least and we have no way of a guarantee that those test centres will open then either as yet.

If you would like us to put you on our list to book a course and test please see our online courses below.

7th July 2020

The Driving Standards Agency Booking system should have opened on the 6th of July …however many driving test centres have so far failed their health and safety checks. They are therefore refusing to book anyone in for a test.

We are doing our best to keep on top of the situation and will post updates as we receive them.

Please call us or email us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Click here to view our next available courses online

***************************************

Please have a look at our map and find a location near you.

When booking we usually use the following criteria:

1 Day Courses – Need the candidate to have done some towing before

2 Day Courses – Perfect for novices or very limited towers

If you can’t find a date  / location that suits please contact us as we may be able to find a different test slot available.

Absolutely awesome!!!!!! Booked in for a full day course with Chris after waiting a long time to get the test done because i was worried about failing and straight from the start i was made comfortable and he gave me confidence to go ahead and pass first time with one minor (which was a mild error due to nerves) I absolutely 100% recommend these guys and im so glad that i went with them and not some other firm. Thank you so much for all your professional training and putting up with my none stop talking!

Fantastic Instruction from Chris - I did the one day B&E course, and thanks to his excellent guidance and patient tuition, passed first time with only a couple of minors. He breaks down all the reversing manuveres into easy to follow sections and crucially shows your how to correct things if you don't quite get it right so you can pull it back! 😁 Had a great day and would thoroughly recommend him and his school to anyone looking to learn.

Passed my trailer test an a 1 day course. The instructor was great. 2 negative points so can’t give 5 stars although I wanted to. 1, the mirrors and windows were a bit mucky, you guys need to carry some window cleaning wipes. 2, the mirror on the trailer kept moving so on my test I couldn’t see the towball. But these are minor points and easy to sort out. Thanks guys.
