Welcome to Greg Upholstery.
You can find me working in my studio located at Castlebrae in the beautiful B listed Art Deco building, formerly the Niddrie Marischal Junior Secondary School (designed by Reid & Forbes1935), in Edinburgh’s south side.
My adventure with upholstery began in early 90s when I embarked on my career, serving my time as an apprentice learning the craft of upholstery and furniture restoration.
Over the years I have been building my working knowledge while working for SiB Design, Vitra Design. Today, I have over twenty years of experience in furniture upholstery. All of my skills and knowledge are dedicated to providing the best service available.

blueingreen1005 StarIn today’s world of mass production and disposable culture, it is easy to imagine that genuine craftsmanship is a thing of the past. Meeting Greg at Gregupholstery has proved to me that genuine artisans can still be found working in Edinburgh, and that high quality workmanship can still be obtained at a sensible price.
Greg served his apprenticeship in his native Poland, and has been living and working in Edinburgh for over twelve years.
We first commissioned Greg to make a leather cushion for our precious caned bergere chair. His advice during our initial consultation was indispensable, choosing the perfect superlative top-grain leather for the project, and colour matching it exactly. In two short days Greg called us to say that the work was complete.
We were extremely impressed with the finished cushion which completes the chair perfectly! We are sure that it will only improve with age as it develops a wonderful patina.
Having won our trust during our first project, we suggested that we would like to have our shabby, mid-century day bed reupholstered.
Greg immediately arranged a home visit to assess the work, and very patiently advised us while we selected a suitable textile from his extensive range of supplier’s swatch books. Once we had chosen an excellent heavy wool fabric in a warm grey tone, Greg managed to source the quantity required at a much reduced price online, and we agreed to a very fair cost for the work.
Once again Greg surpassed all our expectations, arranging collection and delivery of the piece from our second floor tenement flat, and completing the work to a very high standard using wonderfully dense foam, and all within a week!
The finished product is supremely comfortable, and is an elegant addition to our home.
Amazingly, Greg reduced the price quoted for the work, stating that he had overestimated the quantity of material needed to finish the day bed.
I cannot recommend Gregupholstery highly enough. I only wish I had more furniture for Greg to work his magic on.Monday 25th January 2021
