Our History
Herbert Gould was first opened in Holywood in 1989 by Stephen Gould. Stephen operated the business until 1993 when Robert Brown bought and took over the business.
Robert successfully ran the business for 18 years. Herbert Gould was known to some as being ahead of its time and renowned amongst its strong customer base for stocking major brands that were different to everyone else.
In June 2011 Robert thought it best to close the business with the way the economy was at the time but has now opened a beautiful new shop located at 384 – 386 Lisburn Road, stocking Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Yves Delorme, Eichholtz, Iosis, Steiff bears, Emma Bridgewater, Sigikid, Lampe Berger Paris, Neal’s Yard and many other popular brands.
With a range of new suppliers, Robert has successfully created a shop that merges the old with the new and creates a cosy feeling of old world with some very special vintage gems as well as some fabulous modern statement pieces.
The shop opened its doors on 12th November 2014 and is open Monday to Saturday. You should make it a priority to stop by the new shop to enjoy the experience yourself.
