I love walking, hill-climbing etc. I dropped my decent Petzl headtorch chasing a toad around a remote bothy in the very far north of Scotland last year. An intermittent fault became more terminal as the switch reacted to being pressed in a certain direction through to being completely unresponsive when I was final night on another expedition this weekend. Can't rely on a mobile torch for hills, mountains, when rain & snow are lashing in or you need both hands. Looked at replacement costs and baulked. Did some research into repairs, phoned Hillside and spoke to Parminder. He said he was in the shop & suggested calling in. 20 mins later I was there. He found the tools, had the fascia off, ran diagnostics and whittled down the fault to a misaligned component which he returned to position. Back to fully working. Very grateful. The replacement would have been upwards of £50. He took a comparatively small payment. Very knowledgeable, he relished the challenge and is a fascinating and interesting chap to speak to on any issue. Repairs are a dying art and if you have anything electrical such as a TV, radio etc that needs repairing I'd definitely call him. I know I will be. And he does passport photos.
