Established by Martin Mead in 1985 as a groundworks company, Mead Construction has grown to include Plant Hire, Grab-away, Building supplies & even a housing division. The company now employs over 50 local people, including Martins wife & 3 sons, who have all helped to grow the business in recent years by taking on different roles within the group. We now operate one of the largest grab fleets in Cambridge & Suffolk, allowing our groundworks team to be extremely competitive and deliver projects on budget and on time. Our philosophy to have a complete in-house solution, means we are proud to have our own fleet of over 200 items of heavy plant and machinery. This has allowed us to offer our customers a comprehensive range of items for hire to run alongside our grab and aggregate services. Despite numerous (around 4 -5) attempts to contact these people to tarmac a drive they never return your call, so either an attitude of we don't want your business or arrogance and they still don't want the business. Either way if they treat potential customers like this regardless of size one can only imagine the quality of workmanship or post sales support. Just had a call from them and have finally got an appointment tomorrow lets see how the rest progresses. Update - So after my initial wait, once we had contact the responses were fast and educational and Martin Mead was informative and professional.

The guys from Mead re-layed my patio for me and did a fantastic job. Despite finding problems with the way it had originally been layed they went above and beyond to sort it out for me. I was kept informed all the way through, they were professional and courteous. I would highly recommend Mead.

Mead Construction have just done a large dropped kerb crossover and tarmac job for my new build house in NW Essex, which looks amazing. Their price was competitive and I got excellent support when getting my quote and changing the dates numerous times and getting some extra work done. Their site team were to best I've ever encountered and worked fast and well with my builder and local residents. I highly recommend them.

The lorry drivers feel it’s acceptable to drive in such a dangerous manner, that a driver almost caused a fatal crash that would have involved 2 young children. When ringing up to make a complaint, the supervisor barely took it seriously, and actually seemed to know who the driver was. This was before we had even given the number plate, so the driver obviously has a history of driving dangerously. Eventually we got an apology and told that the individual would be spoken to. Hardly an acceptable response after what we had been put through.

Working at another property but blocking my driveway. Driver / operator got unpleasant when I asked him to move as I had an emergency and needed to get my car out urgently. Apparently didn't like "my tone of voice" (compressor running as he used his equipment and I have a hearing issue and was very stressed at the time - no bad language used). Company did nothing about it when I complained . Suggest you avoid these people.
