St Wilfrid's is a very good school. Our children love it there. Site and facilities - It's a small school but they do a lot with what they have. Access - Traffic gets clogged up around there so it can take a while if coming by car. Academic - Teachers and staff are enthusiastic, skilful and caring and believe in what they are doing. Each of our children's teachers have contributed in different ways to our children's progress. Together they helped foster in our kids an interest in learning. They've never really been given much homework to do - I don't know if that's a pro or a con but it doesn't seem to have held them back. Religion - As you might expect, religion and Catholicism plays a large part in school life. In fact, RE is given an equal weighting with maths and English. Quite a bit of effort goes into study of events in the liturgical calendar etc. This is not to my liking but may suit some. Sports/clubs - Though the site is small there is a lot emphasis on a very diverse range of sports and activities and all the children are encouraged to do their best whatever their ability. I've been impressed with school productions etc. Not sure how meals and music compare with other schools. It's a strong supportive community. Older children often work with and support younger children which benefits both. Discipline is enforced fairly robustly but with respect. Head of School Miss Keith is warm, fair-minded, level-headed and has good judgement. Recommended.
