Went to this school from around 2013 till 2018. Was decent when I first started, had actual qualified teachers, people actually learned, and the school had a somewhat decent funding getting spent on each department for fair education in each area. But as the new principle, at the time I was there, Mr Hayes, the school went down hill, teachers kept leaving, supply teachers kept coming and coming, I spent 3 years in that school without a science teacher, so BBC bitesize was my teacher from like the end of year 7 to the start of year 10. When learning started for GCSEs, we had Mediocre English teachers, a good maths teacher, a DT teacher who cared for all the lads in the school and did what he could with little funding for the department, heads of school finally taking a science teacher from the lower years and getting them to teach us (they taught lower years while we had to sit on terrible pcs "learning" from BBC bitesize). There were very few teachers who were actually memorable and showed that they cared about the lads there and did what they could to give us a good education, but clearly wasn't enough. They had an inadequate rating from Ofsted in 2017... It's 2021 people, covid isn't to blame, it's the school and the staff, the lack of teachers and lack of good behaviour from students. Hardly anyone wanted to learn in that school while I was there, it was selling food and drink from the local farm foods, playing odds in the toilet, fighting, or doing stupid trends like chocking each other in headlocks in the toilet till they passed out. Stop defending this school, it was and most likely still is hell, if you've got kids here, they'd be better off learning from YouTube, at least then they'd have a decent education. If you want your kids in a class with incompetent teachers who just scream, laugh at jokes or frankly don't care about their students, go ahead, to the majority of the teachers it's just about getting paid, teachers like Mr McCormick, Mr Myven, and a few others I honestly can't remember because it was 3 years ago are the ones who kept the lads going and pushed them to get the education they deserved, but from what I know few of those teachers with that level of decency left with my year. Don't save this school, let it go, it's not a good sign when they cling onto Wayne Rooney as their main alumni of all people...

Great school! Nice staff, they welcomed us and talked us through the whole process when other schools wouldn`t even answer phone calls or emails. They are well structured and organized. My son had nice time there, noone was mean to him and everyone were helpful. The only reason why we changed the school is because I had to commute every day and it was impossible with three kids dropping them off in three different schools...otherwise we wouldn`t change it! Keep the good work De La Salle Academy.

I was projected some of the best science grades in the year, however I was mistakenly given the foundation paper on which you can get a maximum grade 5, when I informed mrs freeman she refused to even check in with my teacher, presumably only because it would harm her ego, her selfish decision not to take 1 minute of her precious time had an effect of my collage applications. She also told me to “be quiet” multiple times despite knowing the fact I have a condition similar to Tourette’s and I have no ability to control it. Hardly ever had a stable teacher In any lesson, incredibly qualified teachers left/sacked, SEN was lacking. constantly complaining about lacking funding despite wasting money on things like a xylophone or steel drums, neither of which the students were allowed to play. I don’t care about “progress” if your STILL getting “inadequate” on OFSTED
