The Falstaff, Canterbury

The Falstaff occupies a former coaching inn, dating back to 1403. Our hotel includes historic features from this time, with traditional cosy rooms and beamed ceilings, perfect for your stay in Canterbury. Our city centre location is next to the medieval Westgate Tower and just a two-minute walk to the main High Street towards Canterbury Cathedral. The Falstaff combines a traditional building with individually-decorated rooms and suites to give a unique experience each time you stay with us.

Our Breakfast ranges from something light from our continental choice to our full English and cooked options, available every morning in the restaurant. Guests can also enjoy our stylish cocktail bar and food offering, including our signature afternoon tea to Italian-inspired pizzas and brunch. See our Food and Drink page for more information.

Car parking is charged on a first-come, first served basis and the hotel offers free WIFI throughout the property.

The Falstaff is in a great location to walk into central Canterbury with so many shops and restaurants around the amazing Cathedral. There was a river down the street with small boats to take take you for a ride. The person at the front desk was not overwhelmingly knowledgeable or friendly, but adequate. The bar staff were great with a full bar and draft beers. The breakfast was delicious. Hot choices and continental. The room was decorated nicely and we loved the old building structure and quirkiness. There was a car park in the back. The only thing I have to say negative is that our room faced the street and a bus stop across the street. At night people would gather outside the hotel late at night there and were loud as were others just below our window in small groups. I am not sure why they were there with no bars closeby but I did not want to be walking from Canterbury after 10 down that street.

Centrally located to the absolutely lovely downtown area. There are tons of shops and eateries within a very short walk. The room was clean and very quiet. Parking was reasonably priced and the staff is the best. My friend accidentally left her shoes in the room and they are shipping them to her at a minimal cost.

A wonderful hotel in a great location. Rooms are immaculate and stylish. Excellent bar and restaurant. Superb and helpful service with nothing too much trouble. One of the nicest places we have stayed and a definite return.

Great location....room was beautifully decorated only downside was no AC and you couldn't fully open the window, it definitely needed one or the other. Great choice for breakfast and lovely place to spend the evening.

I had a cosy double room and I was pleasantly suprised by the room size; the bed was very comfortable, I had space for my belongings next to the armchair, there was a big mirror and table with a variety of hot drink options/biscuits, the shower and bathroom were spacious also. I booked the breakfast for 10:30 (latest time slot) and in hindsight I would have opted for an earlier time to ensure that there was plenty of bread for toast available/juice. The staff during check in, sitting at the bar and during breakfast were friendly, accommodating and approachable. Only concerns I had whilst staying included the shower floor filling up rather fast and I was unsure how to prevent this, and confusion with parking. Although it is a first come/first served basis on car parking, if there is a space available in the car park it doesn't follow that you're able to park there as there is a limited number of car permits available. That being said, we parked there overnight without a permit and had no trouble.
