lianew cgcare4 StarLovely staff, very friendly, polite, efficient service. We were able to get a table without pre-booking.
The menu had a bit of everything that covers the basics but overall the choice was quite limited.
It took a while to find something that we were happy to order and not one of the four of us found anything that we were really excited to order.
Prices are standard for the regular pub grub meals these days. They did have an offer on, 2 mains for £9.50 or something like that? The food was relatively quick to arrive. I had the gammon and chips.
The gammon was lovely with the egg and the piece with pineapple was absolutely beautiful!
The chips however were not especially good. I only had a handful on my plate but I'm glad I didn't have more as I didn't eat all of them.
They were fat chips (which I don't really like but will occasionally eat) but they were... I don't know how to describe them?
Some didn't seem to have any potato in the middle and were just crispy and not nice to eat. That's the main reason for the 4 out of 5 star rating.
We more than likely will go here again but it won't be as a first choice, more as somewhere different to go when we have been to other places multiple times.Friday 6th May 2022
cathy emmens5 StarQuick service. Easy to order and attentive staff. Meals came quicker than expected and we're your basic value pub grub. Nice atmosphere - a normal family eateries. Good parking outside too. Clean loos and well spaced tables - not too cramped. Did just the job I wanted - a midweek easy dinner out with a friend. Will return many thanksWednesday 20th April 2022
Ian Simpson5 StarCalled in on the off chance, and we were really pleased that we did. Upon entering we were greeted by the barman who made us really welcome.We had the sizzling breakfast which stood up to its name as the sizzles were singing from both platters as the barman brought them over to our table. The breakfast was a delight to our taste buds, all perfectly grilled with unlimited toast and butter, and not a spot of grease in sight. This was accompanied with constant tea or coffee top ups. We will certainly be going back to the Highfield, and I am sure once you give it a try you will also be returning, a little gem. Well doneSaturday 26th March 2022
