Our experience at The Lyceum School has been exceptional. We are so grateful to the headmaster Mr Stanley from welcoming my daughter and settling her so well to gain confidence in her learning abilities. The teachers are truly invested in my child’s education and their growth as learners. Adjustments are made as needed to meet the need of the student. Outstanding experience with this school.

We've had two children with the Lyceum over the past six years - can't speak highly enough of the rapid evolution and trajectory that the school is on. The leadership, faculty and pastoral care provided all we needed and prepared our son and daughter for the next chapter in their education journeys. One contributing factor was the community - many like minded parents, all wanting the best all round experience for the children, but in a environment where personalities, strengths and weaknesses can be celebrated and understood. Great class sizes, great staff (teaching and support), and a great future. Happy to speak to any future parents.

Our son just spent the most amazing reception year with Lyceum school. The team managed the Corona crisis with care and professionalism. The classes were great and gave structure to our days. Also they gave the children a sense of normality during those testing times. Our son has grown in confidence and is a really happy kid who made great friends and loves his teacher. The school premises are great and the cantine fabulous. Warmly recommend to any parent!!!!

We have two daughters at The Lyceum - our eldest, who after 8 years at the school, will leave at the end of the summer term to start secondary; our youngest also started in Nursery and is currently in Year 2. The school has been through ups and downs but I can wholeheartedly say that it is now better than it has ever been. The teachers are wonderful and work extremely hard to ensure the success of our children. Secondary transfer has gone smoothly this year and every child (and their families) are happy with the options they have. Music at The Lyceum is simply superb, and the quality of the performances is impressive, particularly when considering the size of the school. However, what I like the most about the school is the ethos. Every child is valued for their unique strengths and gets opportunities to show them off, which in turn makes The Lyceum children confident while extremely polite and grounded. It is possibly not the most academic school, but the curriculum is varied and the results are still achieved without the need of being a ‘hot house’. The school is clearly being invested in heavily. The new HeadMistress is great and with her experience, the team she has to support her and the new building, I am certain The Lyceum will become the best school in the area. Delighted to recommend The Lyceum

I have had 3 children go through the Lyceum over the last 10 years - the school has always been outstanding when it comes to music, the arts and pastoral care. However, it now complements this with excellence in teaching and academic structure and rigour. For example, my son who is in year 2 is currently being stretched in all areas by a former year 4 teacher and, seeing the teaching over Zoom during lockdown, has only built my confidence in the methodical, yet creative and kind, approach to learning across the school. I particularly like the immersive approach to learning whereby children experience topics through different avenues, such as going on trips to deepen their learning, such as living as evacuees in WW2 or as Victorians on a farm. We also now have specialist teachers for music, art, Spanish and sport , and visiting teachers for all manner of clubs and musical instruments. The school is also open for breakfast club and after school club which helps all of the working parents. The new building with its huge windows and outside space on Worship St in the middle of the City have made the school even more special and the current head, leadership team and staff demonstrate their love of, and commitment to, the school and children every day. Their caring and nurturing approach is reflected in the children who are quietly confident, enthusiastic learners and very well rounded - a fact that is often commented on at the 11 plus interviews and in part accounts for the school’s continued success at this transition point (my children have gained places at Channing and Highgate!). The Lyceum’s commitment to the 11 plus process is also excellent - there is a deputy head dedicated to overseeing the process and the school prepares the children in every way through free booster lessons before school, mock interviews and multiple exam papers and feedback. A good London prep school combines structured and creative teaching with a kind and nurturing environment, leading to both academic success (and secondary school transition success!) and a confident, well- balanced child: the Lyceum does just this. I have the evidence in my 3 children!
