This is a typical flow of one of our patients journeys through our clinic;

The patient fills out an enquiry form on our website where they are urged to provide as much information about their condition, problem and reasons why they want an appointment with us.

Phone Call to assess needs and whether we are the right people for that individual to see. If not we refer on to relevant healthcare professional to best fit their aims and goals. Book in for a 1-2-1 Initial Consultation - either face to face or via telehealth.

During the Initial consultation we do a thorough subjective assessment, including medical history, past surgeries, training load/plan, how your pain or condition came on and when, as well as many others. We also do the relevant objective assessments for your condition/problem. Once we have all that information we are then able to treat the patient with exercise or manual therapy from our working hypothesis of what is going on and how we can help, as well as explaining to you as best we can what is and what can be done, with many options available. Finally we draw up a plan together with the patient around their needs, time constraints and financial circumstances etc.

Follow up appointments or reviews are then set at regular intervals to either assess, train or monitor progress as well as keeping patients accountable and adhere to the plan set out. We then change the plan along the way as new information is obtained with each session to make sure the patient is completely satisfied and seeing results with regular mini assessments throughout, until such time the pain has gone, injured has healed or the initial aims and goals are met.

The Initial consultations and follow up appointments are done one of two ways or a combination of the two.

The first option is to see patients face to face in clinic to physically rehab pain and injuries via movement, exercise and strength training in collaboration with manual therapy, if required.

The second option is via Telehealth, whereby we use zoom to advise and guide patients that can not get to the clinic as often or at all. This option is very flexible and can be done to monitor progress and check in at more regular intervals if needed.

The third option is a combination of the first and second options where we provide a combination of face to face and telehealth sessions, that can be the best option for the individual patient.

I was introduced to Dan just over four years ago after contacting Birmingham Movement Therapy due to a sports related knee injury. The treatment and daily exercises that he recommended fixed the problem very quickly. Since then I’ve joined the Strength and Conditioning classes that they run. Dan and the team at Birmingham Movement Therapy are great educators. Attending the S and C classes, plus the odd bit of treatment from Dan when required has taught me so much about the body and keeping fit and healthy. As a result I’m fitter than I’ve ever been and have a good understanding of how to treat any minor niggles that occur through sport or general day to day life. Dan, thank you so much!

I’m currently in my second block of training sessions with Dan. His extensive knowledge of training and therapy has improved my impaired mobility due to chronic knee pain hugely, in such a short space of time. His sessions are paced and tailored to you as an individual. I’d recommend him to anyone with mobility issues wanting to use exercise as a means to improve their fitness.

I highly recommend Dan as a therapist! After giving me exercises specifically to help with my running, I'm no longer consistently injured. I've also been having problems with the arch of my foot, but after following Dan's advice it no longer tightens up. Dan is super friendly, knowledgeable and is a great listener.

After almost a decade of struggling with the after-effects of an injury I finally found Dan. I wasn't sure what 'Movement Therapy' really meant - but in 6 months he's helped me to accomplish what numerous physios/sport therapists/osteopaths haven't managed in years. I went from being someone who limited how much activity I did to being someone who regularly runs, swims, hikes, plays netball and - most importantly - smiles a lot more! I love strength training now, my endurance and general fitness have massively improved: my squat PB went from 30KG to 110KG! I'm so glad I went ahead and booked with Dan, he really does know what he's talking about - so if you're hesitating - don't! Just book and transform your life :)

I recently met Dan at the Therapy Expo in Birmingham and received treatment on my neck. He has an incredible amount of knowledge and the manual therapy techniques he used gave me a much better range of motion in my neck which was great. Not only did he treat me but he also explained and shared his knowlege which I found invaluable as a student studying Sports Therapy. Thank you so much Dan, I really appreciated the treatment and the knowledge. Would recommend Dan without hesitation.
