Had a very negative experience with a lady at the desk, trying to pass on a message to our extremely vulnerable (and very much pandemic- isolated) grandfather and she shut us down, complaining that there wasn't time and other residents with more urgent needs were the priority. As a result, our grandfather has been left even more isolated and cut off from family contact, which has contributed in our belief to a more rapid decline in his overall health. This is appalling. People who work in elderly care, or with any population of vulnerable adults, by default should be vetted for necessary compassion and basic professionalism. We understand it has been a trying time for nursing homes and those who work within the healthcare sector, but that gives no excuse for the level of gatekeeping and condescending attitudes we have encountered in this specific nursing home when simply trying to keep communications lines open with our vulnerable elderly grandfather. Isolation can kill, so nursing homes have a duty to facilitate good communication systems fo its residents, esp when in-person visits are limited if not halted altogether due to the pandemic. I hope these concerns will be aired and discussed and changes will be implemented. We will continue to try and keep communication lines open and hopefully we will see a change for the better in how they handle this side of their healthcare operations,.

My elderly mother-in-law has often been very difficult and from previous respite care experiences we dreaded finding her a permanent nursing home. Nothing had ever been right so we put this off until it became evident it was essential for her to be looked after 24/7. We were recommended the Red House and right from my initial contact it was evident that this was a nursing home that truly cared about their residents. At all times we are kept up to date on my mother-in-laws well-being and every effort has been made that we can still visit her ‘pod style’ during the pandemic. The staff always make us feel welcome and nothing seems too much trouble It is clear that she is very happy, well looked after and safe where she is and that is the most important thing for us. We have spent many years worrying about her and only wished we have moved her to the Red House sooner. I would highly recommend the Red House to anyone looking for a nursing home for their elderly parent. By a very grateful daughter-in-law

I cannot fault the care given to my Brother in Law. The staff are so kind and nothing is too much trouble, paying attention to the small details that mean so much to both the resident and their family. A well run family Home, so different from larger organisations that can be so impersonal. I cannot recommend the Red House highly enough.
