I used The Timber Group Clapham branch on two occasions and each time I was served by Mark, who was extremely helpful. It is worth to mention that prices are reasonable. I will definitely visit again.

Avoid. Very poor quality of the garden sleepers ordered, cracks on almost each piece delivered, and half of the pieces have defective edges. Very disappointed. The one star is for the delivery guy, who is very helpful.

UNBE-LEAF-ABLE! Visiting the local Timber Merchants was like a sketch from the Two Ronnies or Harry Enfield. The two staff members were not friendly or particularly helpful. All I needed was a hard timber baton strong enough to lift some cast iron radiators. While they couldn't identify the precise timber I took to the till they did eventually confirm, on the third attempt, that the wood was a hardwood. The two previous answers simply confirmed that the material was actually wood which wasn't my question. The main salesman had his back to me throughout the conversation and simply twisted around to address my questions. It was the second salesman who accepted payment. Despite being the only customer in the store I was made to feel that I was in the way and more of an inconvenience. The price of the timber seemed reasonable!

Lessons Learned. unhelpful wouldnt cut anything not even a rip to fit in the van. Mdf sheet i bought had 2 damaged edges and a blemish in the middle which will need cutting out. the planed square edge "joinery grade" i bought looked okay when i bought it however its severly warped no good for any joinery. Never again. shame because its within a stones throw and is my closest Timber yard.
