Our Volvo V60 developed a fault shortly before being taken to Halfords for a service. Halfords diagnosed a faulty EGR valve and quoted £560.00 to replace it. After researching various engine de-coking companies, I decided to give W. Ashworth & Sons (John) a try following a personal recommendation from a friend. After conducting their own diagnostic, John deduced with some good old-fashioned engineering knowledge and experience (not an overdependence upon diagnostic computers), that the fault was nothing to do with the EGR valve but was in fact an inlet manifold. The part was ordered from Volvo and was fitted the next day. The total cost of the repair £294.00. When we picked the car up, I was particularly impressed to note that John had saved the defective part to show me the defect, the bag also demonstrating that a Volvo original part had been used. We’ve since taken our Mini in for repairs and again John was nice enough to save the defective items to show us the cause of the problem. In this latter case, the Mini had developed a particularly intriguing defect, so much so that John asked if he could keep the items to show one of his friends. So, in summary, a pleasant surprise to find a garage that actually think about what they are doing and charge fairly for the work. Thank you John for your help, and roll-on our next repair.

Aggressively threatened by an overall wearing man at the gate for parking too close, all the time being told how I’m preventing him from making money (somehow), think he needs some anger management, 10/10 customer service would park too close to his gate again
