HCRG Care Group provides Adult Community Services and Urgent Care Services in West Lancashire, covering Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Burscough and Tarleton. We provide a wide range of services outside of hospital, in the community and in people’s homes. We began providing these services in May 2017.

A wide variety of NHS services sit within the term ‘community services’. In very simple terms it means all the services that aren’t delivered in a large hospital (secondary care) or classed as primary care (like GP practices and urgent care centres).

We provide similar services across the country, where we’ve invested significantly in bringing services together and improving the experience for the people who use our services. In West Lancashire we’ve been commissioned to improve the experience of people using these services by introducing new ways of working, making the best use of technology and increasing efficiency.

Visited yesterday as was told by GP to go to A&E on arrival I was told A&E was in Southport however I was kindly told I would be seen. All staff were kind, approachable, extremely helpful and professional. Thank you for taking the time and for medical attention and advice much appreciated. Great work.

Been there three times so far to have a difficult leg wound treated and then re-dressed. The clinical service has been awesome and I can't speak highly enough about the doctor, nurses and receptionists who dealt with me. Thanks you all!

Over worked and understaffed. Due to being unwell over the weekend and having to attend this service its was made clear within seconds how short staffed the service was. Receptionist was over worked and constantly questioned about things beyond her pay grade. Unfortunately due to a patient being sent from 111 who was clearly severly unwell the service ground to a holt as the very few nurses had to attend to an emergency with this patient. Staff politely asked patients to be seen elsewhere as there was going to be a large delay. Patients were rude. Staff were clearly upset and deflated by the situation. Turning this urgent care centre back to a walk in and getting rid of the call back triage was a huge mistake. Treatment was non existant due to the emergency, staff shortages didnt make it easier or safer and people need to realise that the staff here are human and the nhs is zero tolerance to abuse. Please bring back the telephone system, this will save waiting times, protect staff and patients safely and ensure that services are treating patients safely within their means.

Back when covid was still recognised, you could book an appointment and walk in. That was a brilliant service. Now its slow and understaffed.
