Our history
Originally built in 1853 as Bluecoat School, the community centre on Mansfield Road is a Grade II listed building that was taken over by YMCA in 1998 to support the charity’s work in bringing together the local community.
Under YMCA’s management, the building now runs as a non-profit establishment boasting a range of recreational programmes and facilities to provide community-focused services for local people of all ages.
On 11 June 2018, YMCA celebrated the charity’s official purchase of the building, with the ownership deal protecting this space for the Nottingham community’s use for years to come.
The YMCA Community Centre is just around the corner from the historic YMCA building on Shakespeare Street, which houses the charity’s 24-hour gym facilities and housing services for vulnerable people.
